Von's Pansies The pattern is from "Gran's Workbook" by Ros Stallcup
© 2003 The painting was done entirely with Genesis Artists Colours heat-set paints - using the 6 Tube Sampler Kit. I learned a great deal about the paints themselves as well as creating my own colour mixes from the very limited kit of just those 6 basic colours. I also bought the small jars of thin, thick and glaze mediums as well as the brush cleaner. I could not have done this project without the glaze medium at all! I used my oven to heat-set the painting. That was an experiment in itself as we were not sure what the heat would do to the canvas paper or the painter's safe-release tape I used to hold the paper onto the 1/4" MDF board that David cut to size for my old wall oven which is smaller than a conventional oven. This was my first exposure to anything even remotely similar to oil paints and although these are not oils they were close enough to give me an idea of what it would be like to paint with oils. I was continually "wowed" by the colour intensity of working with these paints and their total blendability! In fact, I learned that the heat-set part is essential in working with the paints as the stages that one normally does with acrylics cannot be done with GAC paints unless one heat-sets first -- the blendability factor of the paints precludes it! lol I have decided I will continue to
do more with the paints .... I LIKE THEM! :-) |
