What a story behind this piece! First off, the original surface was found at a garage sale by a student of my friend, Peni Powell's. Then Lee, hubby to Peni, woodworked a copy from that original piece. In turn, I was given one of Lee's woodworked copies as a birthday gift to paint for myself! My hubby David, in turn, woodworked his own piece based on my gift -- and THIS is David's woodworked piece! LOL He is so pleased -- and deservedly so! -- of his woodworking endeavors and I'm very very proud to show off his talent too! The books are actually one unit -- a box -- that has been routed with a groove to simulate the books. My painting technique gives it a further faux book look. :-) The box holds standard size index or recipe cards which are accessed from the opening when the box is removed from the book end case. |
