Tracy :
Hello all... first of all I want to thank Dave and Von for giving me the opportunity to fill you all in on
some really terrific products. I hope I can give you some great new ideas to enhance your own work. SPC launched
a line of textures less than three years ago with a basic palette consisting of the three textures:
Frescolina,
Sandstone and Relief Plaster. This past year we have added to that line with the introduction of TEXTURE
NOIR and TEXTURE METALO. Each of these textures has unique qualities that allow you to do far
more than you thought possible; on more than you thought possible.
The entire line of SPC textures are made with High impact acrylic polymers which give each texture the
durability, flexibility and versatility to be used for any surface application you can think of. From improvement to
craft projects; on kitchen counter tops; on walls; on floors; and even non-traditional surfaces like Glass and even Wax.
I am going to take you through the particular qualities of each product and give you some ideas for applications that
you may have thought impossible.
FRESCOLINA: Frescolina contains a very fine silica grain, blended with a smooth semi-porous plaster.
The fine grain causes tiny pits and scratches in the surface and allows for greater variation of
colour. It has a neutral base so it can be tinted using powdered pigments or UTC's. You can even use acrylic paints
if you like. It'll leave a nifty sandy texture behind. Troweled smooth and then coloured with tinted Fini,
Frescolina will give you a wonderfully smooth background for any number of painted projects,
or you can paint it to achieve delightful Fresco effects.
Water colour techniques used over unitinted/uncoloured Frescolina give incredible washed out and aged plaster looks.
But one of my favorite techniques is to mix black paint with an equal amount of Frescolina and then brush the
mixture on. Allow it to dry and then dry brush with a bit of Red Iron Oxide.. voila Faux Wrought Iron.
You can apply Frescolina with a brush, a palette knife, a putty knife, or even a piping bag to achieve
an huge variety of effects.
RELIEF PLASTER: Relief Plaster is a buttery smooth texture medium with a twist ...
it contains the same polymers as Frescolina but instead of the silica ... it contains Marble dust.
This unique addition gives you the ability to do sensational Venetian Plaster effects and as it is also neutral in
base it can be tinted any colour you like.
You can mix it with acrlylic paints to achieve raised stroke work, butter it on smooth and polish it (it
does the most realistic marble effects I have ever seen).
Perhaps the most versatile of any of the Textures, Relief Plaster can be manipulated to work on virtually
any surface .. even on floors.
The most elegant metal effects are easy to achieve with this medium as it can be painted, tinted, or washed
to suit any decor or project
Relief plaster can be applied with brushes, palette knives, putty knives and piping bags. The only
limitation you have is your imagination.
SANDSTONE: I love this product!!! It is virtually bullet proof!! It dries to an extremely hard and
durable finish. It can be painted, stained, or tinted with any water based product.
The coarse nature of this medium may seem limiting to some but in fact it leaves you with far more options
than you would think. It can be troweled out very smooth leaving a slightly pitted looking
surface. Washes of colour over this application leave you with a decidedly aged and faded effect.
You can achieve natural stone effects depending on how you manipulate
it. Pressing damp fabric or
plastic into the surface achieves unique and unexpected results!!
It will adhere to .. anything!! I have made it stick to wood, vinyl, plastic, metal, glass and even candles.
It will go indoors or out with no sealing required. It makes for incredible Faux Snow!!!
Add a few shakes
of sparkles and away we go!!
This particular texture is ideal for projects that require extreme durability and weathering ability.
Now the Newest Additions to our family....
TEXTURE NOIR: For those who love metallics and irridescents this is a product you'll adore....
Smooth and rich, this very black medium was developed with DRAMA in mind.
It's dark dense body allows metallics and irridescent colours to show off all
their glory.
When troweled out smooth it feels as if there is nothing there ... but when Colour is brushed or troweled on ...
Extrordinary textures show themselves.
Texture Noir has all of the qualities of Relief Plaster with the addition of Black Marble dust and High
levels of black pigment. It dries to the same hard durable and beautiful finish as it's sister product.
TEXTURE METALO: Oh, Metallics are soooo hot .. for home decor they are all the rage. This rich and romantic
medium is a deep and elegant copper. It has a unique texture similar in nature to Whipped Marshmallow.
It retains
the texture of whatever tool or method you use to apply it. It will rest slightly before it dries completely giving
the texture a somewhat subtle look.
You can apply it with a sea sponge, a brush, plastic wrap, even a fabric roller. These methods leave behind
some interesting textures.
Once the Metallo is dry, you can apply any number of colours or patinas to create amazingly realistic aged metal
effects (try doing a verdi gris.... AWESOME).
SPC plans to expand it's line of Metallo to include silver and gold .....
All of the textures in this line are Commercial grade, meaning they were developed for applications in
hotels, homes and other areas where the durability and quality of the end result are vital.
Each of the products will give you excellent wearability and the beauty of the finishes will last for
years.
Thank you for your time and attention ladies. If you have questions regarding any of the applications that
are possible or details about application I will be happy to answer them now.

ViaVon : *applause*
Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : *
ViaVon : Thank you Tracy!
MaryEllen-TX : *applause*
ViaVon : MaryEllen -- your question is up first!
MaryEllen-TX : Not wanting to appear dumb..but what is a U
MaryEllen-TX : UTC?
Tracy : Universal Tinting agent.. tube pigment
MaryEllen-TX : *blonde*
Tracy : lol...
ViaVon : Universal Tinting Colour = level of pigment base to the medium, perhaps?
ViaVon : Lena -- your question is next!
Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : I have never heard of those products before and was wondering if you can use the sandstone on rock and put it in your garden as a welcome sign, also do you have to finish it with anything, like a spray
Tracy : UTC are pure pigment ... yo add them in very small measured increments
MaryEllen-TX : *
Tracy : Sandstone can certainly be used for a stone in your garden .... you can seal it with a coat or two of water based varnish.
ViaVon : Lena, did that answer your question?
Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : Yes and Thanks Tracey
ViaVon : Ok, MaryEllen -- your question is next then :-)
MaryEllen-TX : Tracy, this is a two part question: 1. Does the Relief Plaster have a shine to it? 2. If you could pick one product from those you've described to GO OUTSIDE, which one would you use?
ViaVon [0/] Query:User Query
Tracy : Relief plaster is Matt until you seal it, then it takes on the sheed of your sealer . My favorite for outside.... hmmm... I like both Frescolina and Sandstone but Sandstone is the one I find gives the best result.
Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : *
ViaVon : MaryEllen, did that answer your question?
MaryEllen-TX : Very, very informative! I've enjoyed this VERY much! THANK YOU! TRACY!!! *drumroll*
ViaVon : Great! Lena - your question is next then
Tracy : Your welcome Mary Ellen
MaryEllen-TX : Yes, it did! TY!
Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : One more thing about my original question, would you adhere the sandstone to a rock
Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : and where can you buy it
Tracy : Yes I would LEna... just be sure to clean and seal the stone
ViaVon : you buy it HERE with me, Lena! LOL
Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : ok
Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : thanks
Tracy : You can get it through Von
MaryEllen-TX : AW HECK, send me a CASE of EACH ONE!!! LOL

Lena_N_Nl,_Canada : ok not in a rush, maybe in fall
bsrickman : *
ViaVon : Brenda -- welcome! Your question is next!
bsrickman : I think I missed the whole thing! Durn! Will there be a transcript I can access later?

ViaVon : Tracy -- I have a question
bsrickman : when will tracy be coming to the states to teach?
MaryEllen-TX : *
Tracy : As soon as I'm invited :)
ViaVon : Which is better for the textures ... the low gloss or the high gloss or either for those water based finishes?
bsrickman : do you have a newsletter Tracy? Something that would let us know when and where you are doing classes?
bsrickman : oops sorry to step on toes....just excited
ViaVon : *wink* no smack this time. lol
bsrickman : ty
Tracy : It depends on what you want for a result... If you are trying to get a Marble look then High Gloss
is great. If you are looking for a natural Stone effect then a satin or a low gloss finish is best.
ViaVon : lol
ViaVon : and Final Coat will work Tracy?
ViaVon : either level of gloss?
Tracy : I do have a newsletter and it will be available beginning of June
Tracy : Final Coat works great
ViaVon : ok, thanks!
bsrickman : ty
ViaVon : MaryEllen, your question is next!
MaryEllen-TX : I have one more...is it ABSOLUTELY necessary to SEAL it or will it be okay without a finish? and where do we sign up for your newsletter?
MaryEllen-TX : ViaVon..will the next page take us automatically where to order these products?
Tracy : depending on the surface you have applied it to... I have several decorative pieces that are unsealed... I have trays and usable surfaces that have been sealed ...

bsrickman : did you find the open time to be signifigantly longer Von?
ViaVon : Diana -- you'll sit there and wonder what to do with those 2 ounce bottles of other acrylics. I cross my heart you will!
ViaVon : Yes Brenda I did
Tracy : Well ladies I have to go... I did enjoy this very Much

ViaVon : I liked the way they blend and carry themselves off the brush too. If every beginner out there started with these paints and a good set of brushes, half the battle of stroke work would be gone.
